The Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering doctorate programme from the Politecnico Di Milano aims at providing effective and first-class skills in the fields covered by critical areas such as fluid mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, hydrogeology and water resources, environmental technologies for water, soil and atmosphere, transportation technologies and risk management and mitigation, geodesy and geomatics, surveying, data analysis, archiving and representation.
Candidates are required to attend doctoral-level courses which cover a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from general theoretical and methodological aspects to focused and specialized subjects. Classes are chiefly grouped within the first three semesters of the program. Candidates progressively develop their own research project and ideas, leading to their PhD dissertation. The PhD programme strongly and actively encourages active participation to scientific congresses and summer schools as well as research cooperation with international research institutions. All research and educational activities are jointly coordinated by the PhD Tutor and Advisor.

At the beginning of every year the PhD students subject to payment of admission and tuition fees are required to pay annual fees and contributions of € 1,500
Students holding a Master degree in Engineering, Architecture, Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences can apply to the programme. Engineers with a Master degree in Civil and/or Environmental Engineering are particularly eligible as PhD students/candidates.
If the foreign degree has been declared equivalent to the Italian degree, applicants must specify the Italian university and the date of the rectoral decree declaring equivalency of the same. In the case of equivalence issued by MIUR, applicants should indicate the appropriate references.
If the foreign degree has not yet been declared equivalent to the Italian degree, applicants must file an explicit request for recognition in the application for participation in the competition and submit all documents useful for the relevant academic authorities to deliberate on the suitability of the foreign qualification.
In the case of a foreign qualification it is nevertheless compulsory to attach:
If the qualification has not yet been attained or the candidate is not yet in possession of the documents mentioned above, the declaration of equivalent value, the translation and legalisation of the qualification must be produced before the enrolment deadline.
Those who are not in possession of the required qualification or of the English certification at the deadline of the call may also apply. Following the assessment of the examination boards, any admission of such applicants to Ph.D. programmes will be "subject to verification".
All applicants are required to have proficiency in English, submitting to the PhD Registrar one of the certificates listed below no later than the deadline for the enrolment, if not already submitted at the deadline of expiry of the call.
Failure to submit certificates to the PhD Registrar within the established deadline for enrolment irrevocably results in the loss of the right to enrolment.
