The Ph.D. Programme in Management is divided into a coursework stage and a research stage. In the coursework stage two compulsory courses and a minimum of two methodological courses from the doctoral programmes of the University of St. Gallen or the Global School in Empirical Research Methods need to be completed. After finalizing the research proposal, additional two doctoral colloquia/seminars need to be completed. An additional method course or seminar must be visited in either the coursework or research phase.

The HSG has earned the EQUIS (2001) and AACSB (2003) accreditations and consequently has obtained the two most demanding international seals of approval for business schools.

In the 2013 Financial Times Global Masters in Management Ranking we are in 1st place with the Master in Strategy and International Management and in 7th place with the CEMS Master in International Management.
