The establishment of a PhD programme in molecular medicine represents only the most recent effort of this kind. Established research focuses are represented by clinical and basic neurosciences, as well as research on the molecular basis of cardiovascular diseases.

The programme provides PhD students with teaching experience in these disciplines and technologies. The candidates are expected to carry out a high-profile research project in one of the afore-mentioned disciplines, within a 3-year period of time. They will be supported by stringent supervision, thesis committees, methods courses and informal counselling.
Overall, the programme aims to support young scientists who address medically relevant problems with a sound background in basic sciences.

The IELTS – or the International English Language Test System – tests your English-language abilities (writing, listening, speaking, and reading) on a scale of 1.00–9.00. Usually, the research group or department provides funding to their doctoral students in the form of either an employment contract or a scholarship (approx. monthly amount of scholarship or net salary: 1100-1400 EUR).
