Overview
Environmental Engineering from Polytechnic University of Catalonia aims to enable doctoral students to acquire research skills in the field of environmental engineering, particularly in the following research areas: environmental modelling (atmospheric and water quality), waste management, environmental impact assessment, environmental management systems, noise, industrial wastewater, groundwater, remediation of contaminated soils, and treatment technologies.
Students at Environmental Engineering from Polytechnic University of Catalonia will:
- demonstrate systematic understanding of a field of study of the programme and mastery of the skills and methods of research associated with that field;
- have made a contribution through original research that extends the frontier of knowledge by developing a substantial body of work, some of which merits national or international refereed publication;
- be capable of critical analysis, evaluation and synthesis of new and complex ideas;
- be able to communicate with their peers, the larger scholarly community and society in general about their areas of expertise;
- be able to promote, in academic and professional contexts, technological, social or cultural advancement in a knowledge-based society.

General requirements
- Applicants must hold a Spanish bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a Spanish master’s degree or equivalent, provided they have completed a minimum of 300 ECTS credits on the two degrees
- Entrance qualification.
- Academic transcript of your previous studies.
- If your entrance qualification was issued by a foreign institution, a letter from your home university stating that your qualification qualifies you for admission to doctoral studies in that country.
- CV with references to your research and publications.
- Proof of any grants or financial aid obtained.
- Applicants who are not natives of English-speaking countries must demonstrate proficiency in this language: (e.g. IELTS, min. 6.0; TOEFL, min. 170 CBT, 500 PBT, 60 iBT; Cambridge, min. FCE, ISE mid-intermediate or equivalent).
