The aim of Applied Mathematics and Statistics PhD Program of Izmir University of Economics is to educate academicians,having the ability of scientific approach, making national and international research in various fields, and the competence in basic and developed principles and theories of Mathematics and Statistics, who can develop new methods with creative approaches and adopt Mathematical applications in every area of contemporary science and technology.

The Applied Mathematics and Statistics Ph.D program practiced by the Department of Mathematics enables the students to conduct advanced research for application in the fields of Engineering, Medicine, Physics, Biology, Computer Sciences under the supervision of advisors. The academic staff comprises dynamic lecturers who are capable of conducting efficient scientific research and publishing them in internationally recognized journals. The Applied Mathematics and Statistics Ph.D program is designed to enable the graduates to have a successful academic career and carry out scientific research.

Academic Requirements

B-1- TURKISH NATIONALS:

  • To hold an Undergraduate or Master Degree with Thesis Diploma (Students, who enrolled to non-thesis master programs before February 06, 2013, are not required to hold “Master Degree with Thesis Diploma”.),
  • To have graduated from Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Mathemathics, Computer Education and Instructional Technology, or a related field,
  • To graduate with a GPA of 3.00 over 4.00 or equivalent point average,
  • To achieve the necessary exam scores and type of scores for ((ALES) Academic Personnel and Graduate Program Entrance Exam, (GRE) Graduate Record Examination,
  • To obtain an equivalent score in the internationally recognized foreign language exams,
  • To have a statement of purpose,
  • To succeed at the interview and/or evaluation,
  • To submit at least one letter of reference.

B-2- FOREIGN NATIONALS:

  • To hold an Undergraduate or Master Degree with Thesis Diploma (Students, who enrolled to non-thesis master programs before February 06, 2013, are not required to hold “Master Degree with Thesis Diploma”.),
  • To graduate from undergraduate program (4 year) of Departments of Mathematics, Statistics, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics, Mathematical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Systems Engineering, Electrical Electronics Education, Economics, Logistics Management, Finance, or Financial Mathematics to apply for Applied Mathematics or Statistics master program,
  • To obtain an equivalent score in the internationally recognized foreign language exams,
  • To succeed at the face-to-face or online interview,
  • To submit two letters of reference.
