Anglia Ruskin’s story starts in 1858, when the art critic, patron and philanthropist John Ruskin opened Cambridge School of Art. The art school grew to become Anglia Ruskin University, and it’s still at the heart of our modern-day campus in Cambridge.

To make sure our accommodation is of a good standard we're signed up to the Student Accommodation Code, which has been developed by Universities UK and GuildHE. The Code protects your rights to safe, good-quality accommodation. It outlines everything you can expect from your accommodation as well as your responsibilities as a tenant.
We've a huge online collection of e-journals, e-books and databases, and they’re all available 24/7. During semesters, our campus libraries in Cambridge and Chelmsford stay open 24 hours, four days per week, and in each library you’ll find a significant collection of course-relevant materials. T
In late 2014 we launched an upgraded desktop for all our students. Whether you're studying remotely or on campus, you'll now have access to Office 2013 and Adobe Photoshop CS6 as standard. Some of our students also have access to the master collection of Adobe CS6 software.
We offer a free and fully confidential Counselling and Wellbeing Service to all current students. You can talk to us about anything that’s worrying you – from minor concerns to major issues, from grief to relationship difficulties, panic attacks, exam anxieties, stress and anything else.

The Students' Union offers a huge range of societies, from alternative music to animal welfare, and Harry Potter to Dr Who. We also have course-specific societies where you can meet people who are studying similar subjects to you. Any student can join a society, and new members are always welcomed. Together with the ISIC Association and British Council IELTS, StudyPortals offers you the chance to receive up to £10000 to expand your horizon and study abroad. We want to ultimately encourage you to study abroad in order to experience and explore new countries, cultures and languages.
