The Hertie School of Governance was formally founded as a private, non-profit institution late in 2003 by the Hertie Foundation and was established as one of the first professional schools for public policy in Germany.
What we offer:
An interdisciplinary focus and policy orientation distinguish the Hertie School's research agenda. Internationally recognised academics make up the core faculty.
Together with extended faculty, visiting faculty, postdoctoral researchers, research associates and PhD students they cover a broad spectrum of public policy issues in their teaching and research.
First-rate publications and numerous international research projects with partner institutions are further highlights of research at the Hertie School.
Career Services at the Hertie School is a lifelong service encompassing coaching, a network for professional experience, and events.
The Student Affairs and Study Abroad Team is your first contact whenever you have any questions related to your studies. Accommodation is something to start thinking about before you come to Berlin, although it may be difficult to finalise before you arrive. In particular, if you have special requirements, a very limited budget or plan on moving to Berlin with your partner/family, it is essential that you come to Berlin early and allow sufficient time for your search.
Many students arrange temporary accommodation prior to their arrival and spend the first few weeks of their time here searching for accommodation. The best way you can prepare is to decide which type of accommodation you would like and find out about the options available to you in Berlin.
The Hertie School of Governance is an institution of higher learning committed to academic excellence. The library team sees it as its responsibility to equip students and faculty with the necessary tools for their academic research.
We try to accomplish this goal by providing our library users with access to electronic resources from everywhere on campus.
In Germany, every student studying at a state-recognised higher education institution is required by law to have health insurance.
