Aalto University was established as a priority project in the Finnish university renewal. The idea was to create a new innovative university merging science and technology, design and art, and business and economics.
Aalto University has six schools with nearly 20 000 students and 4 500 employees, over 400 of whom are professors. There is a wide variety of Bachelorís and Masterís Degrees awarded at Aalto University, and we also offer doctoral programmes in all the fields of study.

Aalto University itself does not own student dormitories. The main student housing providers for incoming Aalto University students are the Foundation for Student Housing in the Helsinki Region, HOAS and Aalto University Student Union, AYY .
The Aalto University Library is an academic library open to the public and holds extensive electronic and print collections in the disciplines taught at the university. Campus libraries specialized in arts, business and technology will guide users to the use of current information resources.
Finnish Student Health Service (FSHS) provides general, mental and dental health care to university students.
The main campus in Espoo's Otaniemi supports Aalto University's vision for building an innovative society.
The campus and its immediate vicinity is the site for many of Finlandís largest companiesí headquarters, not to mention home to a great number of smaller companies. Otaniemi is the home of over two thousand students.
All of Aalto University's schools have a presence in Otaniemi. Other Aalto University campuses are located in Töölö and Arabia, Helsinki. The University also has facilities in Mikkeli, Vaasa and Pori.
UniSport is a joint venture between Aalto University and the University of Helsinki offering sports and exercise services.
Our goal is to promote wellbeing in the academic community and society in general by increasing awareness of personal wellbeing, providing sports and exercise opportunities as well as fostering an environment conducive to exercise.
Aalto University Student Union (AYY) is a 15 000 members strong student organization. AYY is a self-governing community subject to public law and its status is defined in the Finnish student union act.
