About

History

In 1927, the then named Roomsch Katholieke Handelshoogeschool, with 5 professors and 8 lecturers, opened its doors to 28 Economics students. In 2017 Tilburg University celebrates its 90th anniversary.

Tilburg University offers a number of support services specifically for international students:

Housing services

Tilburg University does not provide student accommodation but we can help you find a place to live. TalentSquare provides accommodation for students from all over the world at a central location in Tilburg, only about 10 minutes from the University campus. You will get a fully furnished room (approximately 18 square meters) and will live in a shared apartment together with 4 other international students, with whom you will share the fully equipped kitchen. All rooms have a private bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet. You have high speed internet in your room through the fiber network (wired).

You can look for alternative housing options around the city via the internet yourself.

Library services

A collection with over 800,000 books, journals, illustrations, early works and manuscripts. The combination with a voluminous collection of e-books and e-journals provides a treasure of scholarly information. The library also offers lots of study places for individuals and groups and a study cafe.

Student Life

Campus life

Tilburg University has a green, compact campus in beautiful wooded surroundings. Almost all activities are concentrated here. The communication lines between students and employees are short. The campus has a modern library with state-of-the-art study and work space. Across the campus there are cybercafés, e-learning centers, and modern individual and group work space. We are proud of our sustainably renovated Cobbenhagen Building, dating from 1962, a designated municipality monument.

Sports facilities

Tilburg University offers a wide range of facilities for sports and recreation. The sports facilities are located very near to the Tilburg University campus and include large sports halls, fitness rooms, squash courts as well as extensive outdoor facilities. If you wish to take part in any sport you can buy a sports pass.You can also participate in competitive sports through one of the many students sports associations. You will then have to pay an extra membership fee to the association of your choice.

Student clubs

Tilburg University is home to a whole range of student associations and societies. They are a great way to meet like-minded students and make friends. There are organizations for arts and culture, sports, student politics and philosophy as well as study-related associations. You will also find organizations aimed specifically at international students which organize all kinds of social activities. We believe that student associations provide the ideal opportunity for every student to develop non-academic skills and talents.

Accreditation

The business programmes of the Faculty of Economics and Business have been accredited by the Association To Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International). Tilburg University, therefore, is proud to be distinguished as one of the very select group of European institutions to acquire AACSB accreditation. All programs are also accredited (i.e. officially recognized) by the Accreditation Organization of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO).
