The Doctoral School of Sociology at Corvinus University of Budapest prefers scholars who wish to carry out problem oriented, theoretically grounded and methodologically sound empirical social research in the future. In order to achieve this goal we offer courses in theory building, quantitative and qualitative methodology, economic sociology and scientific writing. The development of the doctoral research is supported by a series of research seminars.
The PhD program is consists of two parts. In the first two years, doctoral students attend classes, outline and elaborate their research project, and eventually to participate in teaching. That first part is completed with a comprehensive examination. Upon the passing the comprehensive examination, students are allowed into second two years and to work on the doctoral dissertation. The final dissertation must be submitted 5 years after acceptance to the program.Research
Students should work on their doctoral research continuously. In the first two years, the research seminars help the students to design the doctoral research. Third and fourth year students are going to present their research findings at research forums.
