The International Education and Entrepreneurship Ph.D. program at University of the Incarnate Word allows theoretical study with a practical impulse that involves an awareness of business and educational systems and their development in existing, new and emerging arenas.

The foundation courses combine comparative study of the educational and cultural systems of the world with experiential learning in entrepreneurship. This concentration achieves its aim through a blend of theoretical study and practical engagement. Practical application and experience are achieved by each student in a six month internship in a country other than the home country.

Academic Requirements

    The GRE® General Test is a widely administered admissions test that measures the skills needed in today's graduate and business school programs worldwide. The GRE® General Test contains three sections - Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing. Three scores are reported: a Verbal Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, a Quantitative Reasoning score on a 130 - 170 score scale in one-point increments, and an Analytical Writing score on a 0 - 6 score scale in half-point increments.

General Requirements

Admission to doctoral study is restricted to applicants whose backgrounds show promise of scholarship in their field of study. For admission to the doctoral program, an applicant must submit:

  • Evidence of an earned Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Official transcripts of all college or university work.
  • Two letters of recommendation, one from a professional colleague or former professor.
  • Official GRE or GMAT scores.
  • Other specific criteria may be required by concentrations within the Ph.D. program.
