The 3rd-cycle study programme in Law leads to "doktorat znanosti" (PhD degree). It is implemented by the Faculty of Law. The aim of the study programme is to educate top-level professionals in the field of law with additional wide knowledge in social sciences that gives a basis for the understanding of the most difficult legal subjects or theoretical and methodological concepts.

Eduation

The basic aim of the doctoral study programme is to qualify researchers in the field of law that are capable to develop and apply new knowledge in this field. They will have the highest qualification in profession and research for the lawyers in the field of civil, commercial, constitutional, public, EU, and labor law.

The main objectives of the study programme are:

  • to deepen the knowledge or to improve the previous legal knowledge;
  • to educate the law students for independent, professionally critical and responsible work in a profession which demands the top level knowledge in the field of law;
  • to include the law students in the in-depth research work in the field of law with application of research methods;
  • to provide the law students with the most deepened knowledge in the fundamental and special fields of law;
  • to introduce the law student to the work in a domestic and international environment;
  • to build a consciousness of the meaning of law as an instrument of social regulation;
  • to offer the law students the deepened knowledge on important elements of philosophy and theory of law;
  • to improve the student's rhetorical skills;
  • to strengthen and improve the feeling for proper perception and interpretation of legal norms and for justice and professional ethics;
  • to offer the law students the necessary knowledge on legal methods and skills and to encourage their mobility; and
  • to enable the law students to successfully shape their professional profile by selecting the legal subjects in the framework modules according to their preference.

The study programme has been accredited by the Slovenian Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (Slovenian abbreviation: NAKVIS; English abbreviation SQAA).
