 The Political and Administrative Sciences programme at the University of Wroclaw is an interdisciplinary programme: political science with elements of sociology, philosophy, international relations and communication studies


 On the Political and Administrative Sciences programme at the University of Wroclaw will be selected by the doctoral student and his/her doctoral thesis supervisor before the beginning of the semester in which the course is to take place with the exception of elective courses carried out in the first semester when the courses will be selected by the doctoral student and his/her proposed research supervisor.

Learning outcomes:

  • Student will know and understand existing paradigms as well as global and local achievements in the area of political and administrative sciences, and will be able to develop the former creatively in his/her own research activities.
  • Student will know and understand main developmental trends in political and administrative sciences which describe the role of political actors, processes and institutions at local, regional state and international level.
  • Student will know and understand general methodology of scientific method, including epistemological and ontological assumptions and methodology of political and administrative sciences regarding methods of data collection and data analysis and modelling, with reference to latest scientific achievements.

  • Diploma of graduating from 2nd degree studies or uniform Master’s studies or other document entitling to apply for admission to a doctoral school 
  • A written opinion of the research supervisor selected from among independent research fellows of the Faculty of Social Sciences of University of Wrocław regarding the draft outline of doctoral thesis including the declaration of providing research guidance for the candidate
  • The initial outline of doctoral thesis
  • The copy of a document confirming the legalisation of stay in Poland along with the original for inspection

The living costs include the total expenses per month, covering accommodation, public transportation, utilities (electricity, internet), books and groceries.


Foreign doctoral students admitted to the College of Political and Administration Sciences of the Doctoral Academy of the University of Wrocław under the “Comparative studies on politics and administration – a doctoral programme for foreigners” project will have the possibility of obtaining a scholarship from the National Academic Exchange Agency through the University of Wrocław in the amount of PLN 5,000 per month. The scholarships will be paid based on a ranking drawn up by the competition commission.
