Research CentreCentre for European and International studies Research (CEISR): CEISR brings together more than 60 researchers and 20 postgraduates from across the University. The Centre offers a vibrant, supportive and intellectually stimulating environment within which to pursue research. Activities have been funded by major UK and European research councils, including the AHRC, ESF, ESRC, EU, UNESCO, the British Academy and various NGOs.At CEISR, we welcome linguists, historians, sociologists, political scientists, anthropologists and specialists in area studies, as they undertake interdisciplinary research in disciplines across the humanities, social sciences and arts. Under the CEISR umbrella, researchers are grouped into research clusters which include: Francophone Africa, International Development Studies and Security Issues, Language Across Borders, Social and Cultural History, Sociology and Social Theory, Transnational Europe, Women's and Gender Studies.Student DestinationsOne of the benefits of studying at Portsmouth is the comprehensive support we provide in career planning. Our careers and recruitment service - Purple Door - can assist you in career research and finding employment opportunities. The Graduate School Development Programme offers a series of dedicated workshops on career planning, specifically for research degree students. You will also have access to consultations with careers advisers or online support. This service is available for five years after graduation.

Minimum required score (Grade B):
The CAE test – or the Cambridge Advanced English – is an exam for applicants who wish to get a Certificate in Advanced English. To receive the Advanced certificate, test-takers must score between 142 and 210 on the Cambridge English: Advanced test. Read more about CAE.
