Overview
The Computer Science PhD degree from University of Pisa core activity of PhD students is research which is expected to be pursued in one of the research groups of the Department, as well as in other Pisan institutions and research centres, that are active in almost all the fields of Computer Science and in multi-disciplinary areas. They will benefit from the rich interactions with international research projects and cooperations these groups are involved in.
PhD students are encouraged to spend research periods in universities and industrial research centers worldwide, with a time extension which varies from a minimum of 6 months up to 18 months, benefiting of an increase in their fellowships amount of 50%. Among the many on-going research collaborations with top-class international universities, the following ones have a formally signed agreement with our PhD program:

We seek for prospective candidates, both in Europe and in the rest of the world. Candidates are expected to have a general knowledge of Computer Science theory and applications, together with a in-depth knowledge of some research topics connected to Computer Science.

General requirements
Candidates who possess a foreign academic degree equivalent in level, nature, contents and academic rights (access to further courses) to the Italian academic qualification required for admission to a PhD program may provide the consular documents of the academic degree (translation, legalization and declaration of value) with the sole aim to facilitate the evaluation of eligibility of the academic degree for admission to the PhD program.
The application for admission is in any case subject to the evaluation, by the examining board or the PhD Council, of the eligibility of the foreign academic degree for enrolment in the PhD program.
Candidates are strongly recommended to attach to the application for admission, in addition to the aforementioned consular documents (translation, legalization, declaration of value), also other documents useful for the evaluation of the foreign degree.
