This Prosthodontics programme at The University of Edinburgh builds on fundamental dental knowledge and is focused on advancing theoretical, research and clinical skills.

Successful completion of the DClinDent will be beneficial if you are considering applying to the Specialty Membership Examination in Prosthodontics administered by the Royal College of Surgeons.

Programme Structure
Courses and attendance
- The programme consists of 17 courses. All courses are compulsory, assessed and credit-bearing.
- Attendance is required on weekdays for 42 weeks each year.
How will I learn?
- Over the course of the programme, you will spend approximately 60% of your programme time on patient clinical care. The remaining time is spent on lectures, seminars and research projects.
- Independent learning is an essential component of this programme and you will be encouraged to demonstrate autonomy and responsibility of your own development.
- The syllabus of the degree covers the General Dental Council (GDC) curriculum in Prosthodontics.
Occupational health clearance
- You are required to successfully complete occupational health clearance to undergo exposure prone procedures, prior to treating patients.

General requirements
- A primary dental qualification (such as a Bachelor of Dental Surgery), or its international equivalent, plus a minimum of two years' post-qualification experience.
- All successful applicants will be required to join Disclosure Scotland's Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme before starting the programme. In addition, all applicants who don't live in the UK, or who have spent more than a year abroad, will need to provide equivalent verification from the relevant national authority.
