Programme Structure
Research within the LIS programme is organised into three specialist themes:
Logistics and Supply Chain Optimisation- Addressing design, management, optimisation, co-ordination, and planning issues in supply chains and networks, this broad field applies analytical and empirical research methods to a wide array of logistics optimisation and planning problems.
- Areas of focus include product and service innovation, purchasing and sourcing, manufacturing, outsourcing, distribution, behavioural operations management, and intra-organisational collaboration. Also included is research into the radical innovation of supply chains.
- Inter-organisational information exchange between different firms in supply chains and its impact on decision-making and performance

General requirements
- At least an MSc, MA or MPhil degree in business or economics, or from related fields such as psychology, sociology, engineering, mathematics, etc. (depending on the PhD project)
- Excellent grades
- Explicit interest in and motivation for scientific research
- A GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE test (Graduate Record Examinations) is required for all entering students. The test results should not be older than 5 years, and an indication of the required score is above the 85th percentile.
- Applicants whose native language is not English have to submit scores of the TOEFL/IELTS test, which are not older than 2 years: IELTS: minimum overall band score 7.5; no band score lower than 6.5. Internet-based TOEFL: minimum total score 100, no sub-score lower than 23. Paper-based TOEFL: minimum score 600. If the language of instruction of your entire university education was English, you may submit a TOEFL/IELTS waiver request.
