Students will:

  • work with NArFU’s receiving equipment;
  • practise thematic decryption.

The material base for this Principles of GIS and Remote Sensing programme at Northern (Arctic) Federal University:

  • Uni-Scan-36 satellite data receiving station (X-range), overview radius of the station: 3500 km;
  • “Alisa-SK” data receiving station (C-range);
  • “ELECTRO” geostationary spacecraft data receiving station;
  • HP ProLiant DL180 G6 server for processing and storing information;
  • Six HP Z-200 workstations for preliminary data processing, processing of raster and vector information and composing thematic maps;
  • Scanex Geomixer software for work with geodata on the Internet. Geoportals with unlimited number of connections are based on Geomixer;
  • ScanMagic software (network version) used for browsing and analysing images of Earth from space (5 workplaces);
  • Scanex Image Processor software (network version) for preliminary and thematic processing of satellite images and finalising the product (5 workplaces);
  • Remote Sensing database (more than 60 thousand images) continuously replenished with new data, some of which is obtained during NArFU scientific expeditions.
