Overview

The department is one of the leading international centres for graduate study and research on the classical world. The Greek and Latin programme is offered by University College London (UCL).

There are in total around 30 leading academics at UCL who work on all aspects of the ancient world. 

Education

Classical languages, literature, philosophy and reception studies are based in UCL Greek & Latin; colleagues in ancient history, art history and archaeology are based in UCL History and the Institute of Archaeology, and we work closely to provide a rich interdisciplinary programme. 

Located at the heart of the capital, we are at the hub of an unrivalled range of resources for the study of the ancient world. The UCL Library possesses excellent holdings for all areas of our discipline.

UCL is part of the London Arts and Humanities Partnership (LAHP), a consortium of UCL, King's College London, and the School of Advanced Study. Every year a number of studentships will be available to applicants in Classics: please check the LAHP or Greek & Latin website for details
