The Erasmus Mundus PhD Program International Doctorate for Experimental Approaches to Language And Brain offers an outstanding interdisciplinary, laboratory-based 3-year doctoral training to its candidates to study structure, processing and foundations of human language integrating interdisciplinary approaches. 

About

There are 14 associated partners from the public and private sector with various expertise: they include three non-EU universities, four members from the private sector, two with a focus on Research & Development industries and two publishers. They contribute in various ways to the program and stimulate an innovative environment. They are potential co-supervisors and are involved in training.

Finally, there are seven clinics associated to the consortium, amongst others the non-European rehabilitation center in Moscow which is the world’s largest centre for language disorders in the world. The associated clinics provide internships to study unimpaired as well as impaired language of children and adults.

Programme Structure

Areas of specialization include:
  • Language processing and its neural correlates in adults and children; 
  • Language acquisition and language processing in children with developmental language impairments (written and spoken language);
  • Language processing in adults with acquired impairments of spoken and written language (aphasia, dyslexia, dysgraphia);
  • Treatment effects in language related disorders.

You need the following GPA score:

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

Requirement for successful candidates for the PhD program is a Master’s (or qualified equivalent degree) in Speech and language pathology, Psycho-/ Neurolinguistics, Clinical Linguistics or other language-related fields with a very good grade (at least a B or the equivalent). Further requirements for successful candidates include:

  • outstanding academic achievement
  • excellent oral and written English language skills
  • aptitude for original, independent and creative work
  • research experience
