Fundamental and applied research in mathematics at the Institut Polytechnique de Paris aims to:
- Further fundamental research in mathematics at the highest international level.
- Develop research in applied mathematics related to physics, mechanics, computer science and economics.
- Explore new methods for modeling, analysis and simulation in order to respond to new societal and industrial issues.
PhDs in Mathematics at Institut Polytechnique de Paris are consolidated within the Hadamard Doctoral School of Mathematics, in partnership with Université Paris-Saclay and PSL University.
Hadamard Doctoral School of Mathematics (EDMH) encompasses 15 institutions belonging to the Université Paris-Saclay and Institut Polytechnique de Paris, as well as a co-accredited institution (via Paris Sciences & Lettres) – the École Normale Supérieure – with 18 host laboratories, more than 300 PhD students, and over 240 accredited PhD supervisors. The EDMH is extremely open to international recruitment.
EDMH is heavily supported by the Fondation Mathématique Jacques Hadamard (FMJH), and by the Labex de Mathématique Hadamard (LMH) for PhD grants, administrative staff, and funding.

Get into contact with a researcher/professor from one of the Institute laboratories, develop in collaboration with him/her a PhD project and discuss funding possibilities.
Once a few compulsory documents have been collected (thesis project, CV, Master year 2 grades, letter of support from the thesis supervisor), one must obtain the agreements from the director of the laboratory and the director of the doctoral school. Then the application can be deposited on the ADUM website.
