Overview
The Endodontology programme from The University of Edinburgh will take the form of lectures and seminars along with a component of supervised clinical work.
MEndo exit exam
Upon completion of three years of full-time training, you will be eligible to sit the specialist exit exam (MEndo) in the relevant discipline at the Royal College of Surgeons.
The successful sitting of this exam is an integral component for the General Dental Council (GDC) registration process. A successful exam result is necessary to be entered on to the specialist list within the discipline by the GDC.
Career opportunities
There is a large demand for specialists in endodontology both nationally and internationally.
Graduates will be employable in three main areas:
- academia (lecturers and visiting specialists)
- private practice
- publicly-funded healthcare settings
Programme Structure
How will I learn?
The programme has a mixed format of specialist and consultant-led seminars, along with a large component of self-directed learning.
Many of the resources will be available through the university’s virtual learning environment (VLE) and can be accessed throughout the year.
You will also have access to supervisors within the Dental Institute.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments will take different forms and will include:
- single best answer (SBA) type written examinations
- written submission of research work
- viva voce examinations
