Overview
Strong links between clinicians and the University are already in place and the student will develop their research questions with their clinical line manager and university supervisor(s) before undertaking appropriate experimental laboratory and/or clinical work to answer these and produce a thesis of novel publishable work.
The Medicine programme from the University of Bradford enables the student, with the support of the University and clinical supervisors, to ensure that all of the necessary skills to be an excellent researcher can be acquired.
Areas in which the University has particular strength are drug discovery (particularly cancer), diseases of the skin, and vascular disease.
Career prospects
The Doctorate in Medicine degree is likely to be the basis for a clinical academic career, but it also provides an advantage to employability in any area of professional activity through access to more generic training.
Since a doctoral programme is highly specialised, it offers students a unique opportunity to gain internationally recognised expertise on a specific topic.
Programme Structure
A research degree for experienced clinical professionals with training tailored to the project, mainly under the supervision of the clinical and university supervisors.
All students produce a critical review of their field and have access to generic training opportunities for all postgraduate research students through the PGR framework.
