The mission the Department of Physics and Astronomy at KU Leuven consists in the exploration, understanding and modeling of the physical phenomena with mathematical, computational, experimental and perception techniques. 

About

  • Fifteen teams carry out research at an international level. The publication of research results in major journals and the recruitment of high-level scientists are a priority for the department.
  • New physics and innovation in the development of new techniques are important aspects of this assignment. The interactions with industry (consulting, patents, etc.) and with society (science popularization) are part of our points of attention. Furthermore, the department is responsible for the education of basic physics courses in various study programs.
