Overview

Incoming students receive multi-year funding packages to support them throughout course of their degree. Graduate students from Anthropology program at University of Utah also maintain an extraordinary record of securing research funding both nationally and within the University.

Facilities

Our students have access to large collections of human, animal and cultural remains for study in the state of the art Archaeological Center. In addition, the Department houses multiple cutting-edge laboratories including the Modern Genetics lab, Ancient DNA Lab, Zooarchaeology Lab, Stable Isotope Lab, Archaeobotany Lab, and Population Genetics lab.

Our graduates pursue a wide range of career paths in various fields such as academia, business, cultural resource management, medicine, museum work, government, community development, public relations, healthcare, environmental services, and contract archaeology.

Resources and Support

Faculty offer a high level of support to graduates pursuing careers inside and outside of academia. The department hosts graduate workshops to help students navigate the job market, develop application materials (c.v., cover letter, writing sample) and prepare for interviews.

The Graduate School at the University of Utah also provides graduate student career coaching and teaching workshops.
