Overview
The Hispanic Literatures and Cultures curriculum at Catholic University of America is designed to provide students with the necessary critical and theoretical tools to understanding Hispanic cultural production.

- Students engage in the study of Peninsular and Spanish American literatures and cultures through seminars taught by active and committed scholars in a variety of fields, from Modern and Contemporary Peninsular, to Colonial, Modern and Contemporary Spanish America.
Programme Structure
Curriculum:
- In addition to the development of critical and research skills, students have the opportunity to develop their mastery of the art of teaching under the supervision of faculty skilled in second language acquisition.
- As part of our goal to promote interdisciplinary and transnational approaches to culture, students may enroll in courses offered by related departments at CUA (History, Politics, English, etc) and other Hispanic Studies programs participating in the Washington Consortium.
- The location of The Catholic University of America campus allows students easy access to Washington D.C’s valuable cultural resources and research facilities such as the Hispanic Division at the Library of Congress and the Washington Research Library Consortium.

The normal preparation for the doctoral program is an M.A or M.Phil. in Spanish Language, Literature, or Hispanic Studies.
Students with different backgrounds are encouraged to contact the department to see if they qualify for admission.
