In the Composition Arts programme at Victoria University of Wellington, you'll study under some of New Zealand's most prominent composers and be able to draw from their extensive expertise in areas such as film scoring, orchestral works, live electronic music, musical robotics, sound design/audio post-production and sound installations.

Research topics

You'll be joining a dynamic community of research students at Master's and doctoral levels, including a number of international students.

Recent postgraduate topics have ranged across a broad swathe of musical creativity, including inventing new mechatronic instruments, composing music to be performed across a network, composing large-scale works for jazz big band and composing an opera.

Postgraduate research students at NZSM get their own workspace in the School.
