About the program
With this Biomolecular Structure and Mechanism program, we seek to attract the most promising and ambitious students with a Master in life sciences from all over the world who wish to work towards a PhD in structural biology and related fields.
Students accepted to the program at ETH Zurich - Swiss Federal Institute of Technology will benefit from a comprehensive training program and a productive and stimulating working atmosphere. They will get the opportunity to pursue a challenging research project in a leading research group.
Programme Structure
Research groups include:- Structure determination of protein-RNA complexes involved in alternative-splicing by NMR spectroscopy
- Macromolecular assemblies involved in central cellular processes: protein synthesis and fatty acid synthesis
- Imaging cellular structures
- Computational structural biology
- Mechanisms of ion transport across membranes: The structural biology of ion channels and ion transporters
- Bioinorganic and biological chemistry
- Folding and function of supramolecular systems and membrane proteins
- Biomolecular NMR Spectroscopy Platform (BNSP)

The condition for admission to the doctorate at ETH Zurich is basically a university Master's degree recognised by ETH. The Master's degree must be completed before the registration for the doctorate.
