Overview

Our 4 year integrated PhD and Masters programme equips you with the training and skills you need to pursue a related career in academia or industry.

Four year programme:

  • Year 1 – Students spend time building a knowledge and methodological base with taught modules in practical chemistry and engineering subjects, alongside management topics and transferable skills training (communication, problem-solving, leadership and team-working), as well as being introduced to their PhD project.
  • Year 2 –  a combination of MSc study and PhD research
  • Years 3 & 4 –  dedicated to PhD research

The Centre for Doctoral Training in Complex Particulate Products and Processes offered by the University of Leeds will:

Train multi-disciplinary graduates who are able to complement deep expertise in their chosen sub-discipline with a broad range of (i) experimental, analytical and modelling skills, and (ii) communication, team-work, leadership and problem-solving skills. In achieving this we will also deliver innovative and robust research outcomes across a range of applications, benefiting both end-users and the wider research community. As members of a multidisciplinary centre, our graduates will be exposed to a much broader variety of formulation problems, and the theoretical and experimental tools used to tackle them, than is usual from a traditional UK PhD, equipping them to be future research leaders in industry, environmental laboratories or academia.
