As a result of the rapid growth in both the availability of global information structures (e.g. the Internet) and the number of users, information security professionals are facing major challenges providing services that are accessible yet safe. Keeping business channels flexible and easy to use whilst guarding against the e-criminal is an on-going project.
The Information Security programme of the University of East London is currently unique in the UK, offering a professional doctoral qualification in the expanding area of information security. It brings professionals and academia together to inform both theory and practice.
The programme is reviewed and enhanced every year to keep up with the rapid changes and challenges in cyber space. Our syllabus is designed and delivered with the assistance of our industrial liaison board.

General requirements
- Minimum 2.1 Honours in any discipline
- We would normally expect you to have Grade C in GCSE English and Maths.
- Applicants must have current significant work experience in a senior position and a proven commitment to professional, personal and intellectual development.
- Overall IELTS 6.0 overall with minimum 6.0 in writing and speaking, and 5.5 in listening and reading(or recognised equivalent).
