The College of Engineering at California State University Long Beach jointly offers a Ph.D. degree in Engineering and Computational Mathematics with Claremont Graduate University.

At California State University Long Beach, the Engineering and Computational Mathematics program of study for each Ph.D. candidate is carefully integrated to ensure the interdisciplinary nature of each student’s research.

Key Features

  • The CSULB College of Engineering oversees the engineering portion of the program and Claremont’s Department of Mathematics has primary responsibility for the computational mathematics portion.

The Bachelor of Science programs in Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Computer, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Programme Structure

  • The Joint Doctoral Program was created in 1987 to combine the computational mathematics field with one or more branches of engineering at both the academic and research levels.
  • It draws upon the synergistic expertise of research faculty at both institutions to integrate advanced techniques of mathematical analysis with advanced engineering coursework and research. Its first degree was awarded in 1995.
