About

The PhD program aims to provide comprehensive, internationally competitive training in the theory and practice of experimental research as well as in-depth specialist knowledge of the individually selected research area. It directs the students towards independent scientific work and enables them to assume scientific responsibility.

Research training is available in the areas of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Biomedical Sciences, Cell Biology, Immunology, and Neuroscience.

General Information: Application Procedure

The application procedure comprises two separate steps, and for Vetsuisse Zurich candidates three separate steps:

  • Registration at the University of Bern (before application to the GCB)

Vetsuisse Zurich candidates: Register at the University of Bern at the latest immediately after admission to the GCB; additionally, register as «IN-MOBILITY Student» at the University of Zurich

  • Application to the GCB

Applications to the GCB must be submitted to the coordinator no later than four months after the start of the research project.
