History
The IMPRS, which was founded in 2011, is currently home to more than 50 PhD students from 19 countries who bring backgrounds in physics, chemistry and biology. Supervision and guidance is provided by over 30 PIs who are renowned experts in their fields.
Education
Building on the unique infrastructures in the area of 4th generation light sources and international expertise available in the Hamburg area, the research school is dedicated to train talented young scientists from around the world in this quickly developing field. Besides their own research, IMPRS fellows benefit from scientific workshops and transferable skills training opportunities.
Research
Specific research areas include:
- theoretical and experimental aspects of condensed matter and atomically resolved dynamics
- fundamental light-matter interaction
- accelerator-based light sources
- coherent imaging coherent controlled molecular and solid state dynamics
- molecule imaging
- extreme timescale spectroscopy
- ultrafast optics and X-ray science
- relevance and applications in chemistry, biology and medicine
