History
Ondokuz Mayis University is a modern state local university founded in 1975. Its main campus (Kurupelit) is located in Samsun, a city with an international harbour in the North of Turkey on the coast of the Black Sea. It has faculties and schools spread across Samsun and 6 counties.
Education
Our university consists of 18 faculties (Agriculture, Architecture, Business Administration, Communication, Dentistry, Divinity, Economics And Administrative Sciences, Education, Engineering, Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Medicine, Science and Letters, Tourism, Health Sciences, Sports Sciences, Veterinary Medicine); 1 conservatoire; 1 schools (School of Foreign Languages); 12 vocational schools which give two-year education (Alaçam, Bafra, Ballıca, Bafra Tourism, Çarşamba Mercantile Exchange, Havza, Justice, Health Services, Samsun, Terme, Vezirköprü, Yeşilyurt Demir-Çelik); and 5 graduate schools (Educational Sciences, Fine Arts, Health Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences).
Career
Students can be employed up to 60 hours/month in workrooms, laboratories, libraries and other units of the Faculties or Schools, or in the other administrative units of the Rectorate. After the quotas are announced in Faculties, Schools and Graduate Schools, students apply to the unit they want to work and final list is sent to the General Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports. Students start to work after the approval of the Rectorial Office.

Student services
Within the scope of our university, there are 69 student clubs founded for various activities in cultural aspects, art, sports, ideology and career fields in order that the students can develop leadership characteristics, individual social relationships and decision-making skills and that they can spend their leisure time as effectively as possible.
Housing services
Guesthouse
- There is a Guesthouse located in Kurupelit Campus with 22 rooms and 48 beds capacity, located in a place with a great view of sea. There are also a restaurant, patisserie and game room in the Guesthouse.
- The hotel, which is next to an Olympic pool by the sea-side, has a capacity of 44 rooms and 90 beds. The hotel includes conference rooms, ball rooms and in the summer season, the hotel includes beach volleyball, wet football and children’s game area.
Library services
The Ondokuz Mayis University Library aims to support Ondokuz Mayis University's education programs, meets the information needs of its academic and administrative staff and students, and cooperates with other institutions at the national and international level.Ondokuz Mayis University Library offers an extensive system to support university degree programs, research and teaching.
Medical services
Our students, academic and administrative staff can get a full range of medical and dental services from University Hospital and faculty of Dentistry both of which are located in Kurupelit Campus and serves as the largest facilities in region. The General Directorate of health Health Center.
Campus life
Kurupelit Campus is situated on a land of 10,000 acres with a view of the Black Sea on the one side and a view of the nationally famous Kocadag Mountain on the other side, which is well known for its national yearly walks.
Sports facilities
Students can do sports in different fields by benefitting from outdoor and indoor sports halls. Within the scope of the university, there are 5 indoor sports halls, one of which has been designed for multiple purposes, 4 football fields (2 artificial turf fields, 2 grass pitches), 3 tennis courts, and 1 Olympic swimming pool. Diving pool, conditioning – strength development center, fitness center, and steam rooms are available in the pool complex for the university students, regional athletes and people living in Samsun.
Student clubs
There are 69 student clubs in Ondokuz May?s University which are created on the basis of enhancing students’ leadership skills, social interaction and decisision making abililities and these clubs act in various fields like culture, arts, sports and carrier etc.
Student clubs contribute to campus life and education via their culturai, artistic, scientific, sportive and technological activities like organizing concerts, workshopd, panels and conferences, participating in fairs, researches, observation or contests.
