The University provides English language and study skills support to international students through the Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT). A range of courses is available to help you improve your English and develop the skills needed for successful study.

There are over 1,200 study spaces across the JB Morrell and Raymond Burton Libraries and the Harry Fairhurst building.These spaces provide you with areas for single and group study.

All the Library buildings have wifi access throughout and easy access to power sockets for use with your mobile devices.

Medical services

Health care is provided by your doctor, the Health Centre on campus, the NHS urgent care centre at York District Hospital and various chemists, dentists and opticians in York.

You can access urgent NHS health advice by calling 111.To consult a doctor you must first register with them. You can find a doctor convenient for where you live in York, using the NHS search facility.

      Be part of York Sport Union, the sporting arm of the Students' Union (YUSU) - they coordinate 60+ sports clubs, 3000+ players and 16 college sports.
      Keep fit and train in our flagship facilities which include our £9m Sport Village.Walk, cycle or run our new YorActive Trail, a 5km outdoor fitness trail connecting the west and east parts of campus.

Student clubs

 The University of York Students' Union (YUSU) offers over 180 student societies, all entirely organised by and for students, or you can always start your own. From astronomy to aerobics and politics to poetry - there is plenty to choose from.

Events on campus include big summer parties, club meet-ups, live music events, guest lectures, Christmas fairs, bake-off competitions and much more.
