History
Portsmouth Business School was founded in 1985 and integrated as a faculty within the University of Portsmouth in 1994. We are a multi-cultural community of students and professional staff who foster a shared responsibility for the achievement of personal, academic and career success.
Education
Over 5,000 students (of whom a quarter study at postgraduate level), including 1,400 international students from over 100 countries, supported by 250 staff. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses across accounting, business, economics, finance, human resource management, law, marketing, leadership and other specialist management subject areas.
Research
2015 proved to be another highly successful year for Portsmouth Business School (PBS). The undoubted highlight was in September when we welcomed over 800 colleagues from over 40 countries to the Annual British Academy of Management (BAM) Conference – the largest BAM Conference ever! Building on this success we are now busy planning to host the 58th Conference of the Operational Research Society in September 2016, and the following year the Association of Law Teachers 52nd Conference will visit us (April 2017).

For those times when you would like to improve your academic skills or need support and advice with any issue, however large or small, help is at hand from our friendly, professional Student Advice Services. Should you require health and medical care, a full doctors practice is situated next to the Nuffield Centre in the middle of campus and we can also give you a comprehensive list of local surgeries.

Housing services
There’s a huge range of student accommodation options at Portsmouth, whether you choose to live in our halls of residence or in private rented accommodation. Where you choose to live will depend on the experience you’re looking for, your budget and how independent you want to be.
- With new halls of residence openings, we can offer accommodation to at least 90% of new full-time Home/EU students who make us their firm choice and apply for accommodation.
- Or you can choose who you would like to live with and you have more independence. The two main types of private accommodation are private shared houses and flats, or lodgings. We have a dedicated team who can help with house hunting and help you to find housemates.
Library services
The University Library provides integrated library and information services in support of the University's overall aims and objectives, as embodied in the mission statement and strategic plan. Paying due regard to the need for cost effectiveness, the University Library will continue to be responsive to user demand and proactive in the development of services and use of new technology.
