History
Electrical technology is transforming our world – changing the way we work and play, and redefining fields of human endeavour as diverse as healthcare, engineering and government.
Education
The disciplines of Electrical, Electronic and Mechatronic Engineering make a vast impact on the way we live our lives and it is done so well that we don’t notice it.
Research
he relevance and impact of university research is becoming increasingly important. As Engineers we have a strong effect on our economy and on society as a whole.
For the first time an assessment of research impact has been introduced as part of a national audit of research excellence called the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
Results from this assessment have just been published and the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering was ranked in the top three of all institutions in our discipline for impact- a clear indication of the importance and relevance of our research.
Career
We expect the lights to go on when we flick a switch; we use social media without thinking about the infrastructure that makes it possible; we listen to music from many different media without thinking of the way that it is recorded, stored, reproduced; harmful emissions are being reduced because energy is being used more efficiently – but we don’t think about how this is achieved…
