Ranked 8th in the Guardian University Guide 2016, 10th for research intensity in the recent Research Excellence Framework exercise, and consistently achieving over 90% student satisfaction in the National Student Survey, the School of English at Kent offers an exciting and welcoming environment for study.



You will be taught by leading international researchers and award-winning creative writers in a location steeped in literary history.

Our programmes – English and American Literature, Creative Writing, Contemporary Literature and Postcolonial Literature – cover all periods from Chaucer to the Contemporary and at every step of the way students choose their own pathway through the subject.

All our undergraduate degrees are available with a year abroad or a year in industry and our postgraduate programmes are taught at centres in Paris and London as well as in Canterbury.
