Universities in Nagasaki-shi
On November 12, 1857, Dutch army surgeon Pompe van Meerdervoort initiated medical lectures in the Dutch language to government doctor Ryojyun Matsumoto and11other persons. This medical school called Igaku Denshusho is the origin of today's School of Medicine as well as Nagasaki University.
