University of Oldenburg is named after Carl von Ossietzky. It was established in 1973 in order to show the science’s responsibility towards the society.

In addition to Uhlhornsweg (game hall, outdoor hall, gym, pool, Action areas I - III) there are some more sporting areas in Wechloy (tennis courts, lawn, beach volleyball courts, jogging trail).
