History
Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H) was founded and state recognized in 1983 and ever since has been a pioneer among Germany’s higher education institutions. Over a period of 30 years, we introduced significant innovations in research and teaching. As a model university we stand for dynamic reforms of the traditional alma mater and the pursuit of a humanistic educational concept .

We have been educatingstudents in humanities/arts,management and economics, psychology, nursing science,medicine and dentistry formore than 30 years.
Research
The department of research funding and (EU) third-party financing provides professional advice and practical support to researchers at Witten/Herdecke University in the acquisition and management of funding for their research projects. A full range of services is available: information on current calls from national and international organizations promoting research, individual counseling on project proposals, support in the formal application for funding and negotiation of contracts.

Opinion
I enjoy the fact that I attend a smaller university. I have the attention of my professors and I feel that the programme does not rush me. I feel seen by both my classmates and professors and I am grateful that they allow us to explore all our talents
A good university but not for everyone...
I really liked the small classes and the direct interaction with professors etc. Also the theory was always somehow connected to real world scenarios or projects, that helped to get experience and also to motivate yourself because you as a student are already participating in real projects with companies. What I did not like was that you have some groups. On the one hand the elite group that seems "untouchable" and is sometimes even arrogant. On the other hand you have a group of people that are very alternative and like to discuss everything and if you do not fit in one of those groups you either get happy because you have one or two people that are like you or you will have hard times to find friends. That's probably the main disadvantage of a small university like this.
