Loyola also recognizes talented students through a variety of other scholarships that are awarded without consideration of financial need.
Benefits
Each year the Graduate School awards a limited number of Arthur J. Schmitt Leadership Scholars Fellowships.
The fellowships provide support to PhD students who have demonstrated excellence in all aspects of graduatestudy and are in the final stage of doctoral work, i.e. completing the dissertation.
The fellowships include astipend, a tuition scholarship, and health insurance.
Eligibility
By the application due date, applicants are required to have:
- either been awarded candidacy OR have completed all steps to advance to candidacy except for successful completion of IRB approval, which must be completed by no later than June 1, 2026;
- an anticipated defense of the dissertation no sooner than January 31, 2027 and no later than the end August 2027;
- submission of all required application material so that it is received electronically by the Graduate School no later than midnight on Monday, January 19, 2026.
