Description
The Emergency Accommodation Bursary is designed to assist students who are currently enrolled at the ANU as an award-status student, and are experiencing unexpected financial difficulty in meeting their accommodation costs.
Assistance is not ongoing and the bursary is not designed for pre-arrival costs or as a method of income. Funds are granted subject to eligibility.
Benefits
The value of the Award is stated in your letter of offer. The duration of the Award is for up to 52 weeks per level of study, as outlined in the Australian Qualifications Framework by TEQSA. The Award is paid in a one-off instalment upon accepting the Award unless otherwise stated in the letter of offer.
Eligibility
The Award is available to a continuing ANU student who:
- is a domestic or international student; and
- is enrolled in an undergraduate, honours or postgraduate degree offered by the University; and
- is enrolled in at least one course (if a coursework student) or at least 24 units (if a higher degree research student) during the period; and
- has not received the Award for 52 weeks during their current level of study; and
- if residing in an on-campus residence, does not have any serious breaches of their Occupancy Agreement recorded; and
- can demonstrate a change in personal circumstances that has affected their ability to meet financial obligations; and
- can demonstrate financial hardship.

Please note, if you are receiving Rent Assistance from Centrelink please be aware you may find your Rent Assistance is reduced if a bursary is awarded. You must include a copy of your Centrelink assessment notice.
