Overview
All the disciplines of the area of Information Engineering have a common identity given by the techniques to acquire the information, the techniques for processing signals and data, the propcessing techniques in order to transmit them even at a very large distance.
Content of the Information Engineering programme at University of Padova
Another basic common knowledge of Information Engineering is the definition of appropriate models for physical systems, the analysis, by simulation, of the behaviour of such systems, in order to foresee performance and outcomes.
The results obtained by simulation must be interpreted and correctly analyzed with the purpose to design complex systems in several different areas without the necessity of building prototypes, which are seldom a very expensive, or few of them are required.
In some situation the simulation is mandatory because it is not possible to do direct proof within the system without being sure of its effectiveness (for example in biological systems or in system with high environmental risks).
The correct modeling of a physical system is the most important thing to learn. It requires fundamental techniques and experience which will be acquired by following specific courses and doing research activities within the research laboratories of the Department of Information Engineering, working together with expert researchers.
The School is organized in two Indirizzi (Sections) in which students are carrying out research on specific topics:
- Bioengineering
- Information and Communication Science and Technologies (I.C.T.)
