Overview

The PhD in Nanotechnology at Tecnológico de Monterrey is designed to stimulate the value chain, using the foundation of nanoscience to generate groundbreaking scientific knowledge that encourages the development of innovative nanotechnology-based products and/or services, and also identifies entrepreneurial opportunities with nanotechnological bases.

Areas of Specialization

The Ph.D. in Nanotechnology is a multidisciplinary program that focuses on the following areas of generation and/or application of knowledge: 

  • Advanced Materials with enhanced physical and chemical properties, micro and nanofabrication processes. 
  • Nanosensors and Nanosystems with very high sensitivity, selectivity, portability, and very low energy consumption. 
  • Nanophotonics and Quatum Systems including linear and non-linear optics, plasmonics, spintronics, among other areas.

Academic Requirements

You need the following GPA score:

Your GPA (Grade Point Average) is calculated using the grades that you received in each course, and is determined by the points assigned to each grade (e.g. for the US grading scale from A-F).

General Requirements

Admission requirements:
  • To hold a master’s degree in engineering or related areas
  • Participate in an academic interview with the program director
  • Submit the admissions application form accompanied by all required documents

Funding

In its endeavor to attract the best academic talent to its Engineering Graduate Programs, Tecnológico de Monterrey offers a full tuition scholarship to all candidates admitted as full time students. Furthermore, CONACYT (a Mexican Government Agency that supports higher education) will provide to admitted full-time students a maintenance allowance given that the program has been accredited in the National Quality Graduate Program (PNPC) of CONACYT.
