Research
The Faculty of Natural Sciences at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev has a reputation for excellence in research. A broad spectrum of research is undertaken-both theoretical and experimental, basic and applied-having direct relevance to the development of the Negev, Israel's southern desert area.

Programme Structure
- The Faculty of Natural Science constantly endeavors to increase the number and quality of its students, to continually develop areas of study in order to keep pace with the demands of society, and to maintain the excellence of its teaching. In addition, the Faculty encourages interaction with the community by attempting to strengthen its ties with industry and the national educational system. Contacts and cooperative efforts with research institutions in the country and abroad are constantly increasing.
- The Faculty provides a wide range of services to local schools and science- based industrries, and, in so doing, not only trains sorly-needed professionals, but also helps push back the frontiers of the desert while advancing those of science.

General requirements
- The candidate must have earned a Masters' degree in a program requiring the submission of a Masters’ Thesis from B.G.U. or another comparable academic institution, and must have high grades from the Masters’ studies and Thesis.
- Candidates who have not yet fulfilled their Masters’ degree requirements may be accepted conditionally, contingent upon their proper completion of supplemental studies; this is a temporary status that may be conferred for only one semester.
