About

The Faculty of Medicine has a long tradition and is further expanding its programmes towards such research goals. The establishment of a PhD programme in molecular medicine represents only the most recent effort of this kind. Established research focuses are represented by clinical and basic neurosciences, as well as research on the molecular basis of cardiovascular diseases.

Programme Structure

The programme provides PhD students with teaching experience in these disciplines and technologies. The candidates are expected to carry out a high-profile research project in one of the afore-mentioned disciplines, within a 3-year period of time. They will be supported by stringent supervision, thesis committees, methods courses and informal counselling.

Overall, the programme aims to support young scientists who address medically relevant problems with a sound background in basic sciences.

Academic Requirements

  • Official Transcript / Record of Studies from all colleges/ universities attended.
  • Curriculum vitae, including achievements during Bachelor and Master studies, voluntary projects, and current research activities
  • (Short) description of the students motivation for entering the program and working on the proposed research topic
  • A statement whether the applicant has already applied for a PhD program before or in parallel, and whether s/he has participated in a PhD program before

Funding
