Overview
The Middle Ages and Renaissance are researched at the LMU in a specialist diversity that is unique in Germany. The Medieval and Renaissance Studies doctoral program at Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) Munich is intended to make it easier for young scientists to integrate into the stimulating research landscape in Munich at an early stage.
Features
- The ZMR networks the relevant activities in research and teaching, which are carried out at the LMU in a density and excellence that is unique in Germany.
- With the establishment of an interdisciplinary and cross-faculty doctoral program, which is headed by the spokespersons of the ZMR, young scientists should benefit from the interdisciplinary expertise gathered in the ZMR.
Programme Structure
Curriculum:
- In the winter semester, at least two of the ZMR professors jointly lead a research seminar with an interdisciplinary question and objective, in the context of which, however, project presentations by doctoral students are always welcome.
- In the summer semester, the scientific coordinator of the ZMR organizes a doctoral student meeting in the form of a one- to two-day colloquium.
- The individual projects are presented and methodical-theoretical questions are discussed. In the exchange between doctoral students, interdisciplinary relevant problems of working on dissertation projects can also be reflected on and solution strategies can be developed together.
