The Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (NAOE) at Osaka University itself has a long history that ties back to the opening of Japan to the world in the Meiji period.

Programme Structure

Curriculum:

We are among one of the few universities in Japan that offer study program in the naval architecture and ocean engineering.

Our department belongs to the Division of Global Architecture, School of Engineering, alongside with two other departments (Civil Engineering and Architectural Engineering).

As a naval architects and ocean engineers, the ocean will be our main playground and the sea-related structures are often ginormous and exposed to the unpredictable and harsh environment from high waves and winds.
