Overview
Throughout the Higher Education Leadership and Management (HELM) DBA programme from the LUISS Business School has been specifically designed to meet the needs of leaders in universities and other higher education related organizations in Europe and beyond. Participants will gain the skills to address the challenges in the European and global higher education industry in the 21st century.
The program is taught by expert faculty in higher education management, governance, leadership, strategy, internationalization and policy and participants will be able to share experiences and professional insights with a wide range of industry leaders and innovators.

- The DBA in Higher Education Leadership and Management includes a 1.5-year taught program phase (online and residentials) delivered through the induction phase, a series of foundation courses and core courses, followed by a 1.5-year thesis phase with online and in-person Research Seminars, DBA Consortium and the Summer Residential at Boston College.
- The induction is mainly for candidates to settle into the program and familiarize themselves with life on campus.- The Foundation Courses aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of applied research methods and methodologies by accompanying skills and abilities that will prepare candidates to undertake research for their DBA thesis in the field of higher education management.
- The core courses provide candidates with an in-depth perspective on how to apply competencies to the higher education industry. Core courses are divided into 4 Modules and will be taught over the first 1,5 years.

General requirements
The Admission Test evaluates the applicant’s skills, personal motivations, and potential. It can be administered on campus or remotely. It is necessary to have a B2 level of English, according to the result of the Luiss test, or have a valid official IELTS, TOEFL, TOEFL iBT Home Edition, Cambridge certification which corresponds to a B2 level.
The Admission Test consists of:
- English Test (applicants with a TOEFL/IELTS scores can be exempted from the English test)
- Online Test — Inductive, Numerical, Deductive
- Essay or outline of personal research interest
- Personal interviews
